Wines by KT
Wines by KT is my privately owned and operated small wine company based in the Watervale district of the Clare Valley in South Australia, specialising in Riesling and also creating Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. Wines by KT are made from small, lovingly cared for parcels of fruit from dry grown, sustainably farmed vineyards in the 5452 area and have traditional techniques used in their creation.
Located in the heart of Watervale, South Australia.

Estate Vineyards / AVA
Bunny and Yvonne Peglidis first planted their vineyard in 1970. This makes by any measure the Peglidis vineyard a fully mature site. Over the course of its history Peglidis vineyard has been managed by adopting old school farming techniques and minimal inputs onto the land to ensure good vine health. It's always been dry grown, hand pruned by Bunny (pictured), rod tied by Yvonne and hand picked by friends. It's a special site and grows fine Riesling.
With its chocolate loam soil over limestone, the soil has great water holding capacity to ensure healthy vine canopy as fruit protection. This all makes for grapes in excellent condition and health.
From this vineyard I create my Peglidis vineyard, melva, pazza and 5452 by KT Rieslings and a cheeky parcel of Shiraz which finds its way into my 5452 red blend. The different wines are made because of some variation in soil type between the blocks. This allows me an opportunity to celebrate each different patch and the hard work from my great friends Bunny and Yvonne.
The Churinga vineyard was first planted in 1930 and those gnarly old Grenache vines are still producing some wonderful fruit on the property today. Consisting of Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Mataro, the majority of vines were traditionally planted on the contour in 1930 and 1954. How lucky I am to work with beautiful old vine grapes.
Owned by the Kyros family since 2003, Churinga is now managed by local winegrower Leon Schram and the site is farmed adopting sustainable management techniques, including biodynamic 500 preparation, to assist with soil and vine health.
Churinga has a rich red loam soil overlying slate and my dry grown vines are shoot thinned, hand pruned and hand picked to ensure the best possible fruit selection each season.
From this vineyard I create my individual vineyard Churinga Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as my 5452 red blend. It's a little piece of history from Watervale.
