History

Whyworry Wines have had a knack for garnering awards since their Verdelho picked up a bronze medal at the New England Wine Show in 2007. Owners Darryl and Robyn Carter planted their first vines in 2000 and now produce a commendable array of varietals, including a terrific sparkling Cuvée Brut and their award-winning Gewürztraminer. They have also had tremendous success with a white port and hope to revive the popular run in the near future.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

The New England high country is shaping up as a prized cool climate region, giving us the opportunity to grow varietals harder to produce in other regions, including the classic but rare Viognier, originally from the Rhone Valley in France and popularised by Californian producers in the 1990s.

Whyworry Wines has more than 15,000 vines spread over nearly seven hectares at more than 1150 metres above sea level. Varietals include Pinot Noir, Pinotage, Shiraz (Syrah), Cabernet and Merlot, as well as Chardonnay, Riesling, Traminer, Semillon, Pinot Gris and the rare Viognier.
