Turnbull Wine Cellars

On the path to Oakville, you’ll find a hidden gem that’s been here since the beginning. A welcoming home in the Napa Valley, where you will taste our honest and true wines at their source. Exceptional wines are a given, but you’ll also discover a family found. The gallery room is where you can taste, enjoy and purchase our current releases and small production wines exclusive to the winery, all produced from our estate vineyards. Our world-class gallery is open to the public and features a rotating collection, twice a year, of historic black and white photography by a plethora of famous artists, including such notables as Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Margaret Bourke White, Dorothea Lange, Herb Ritts and more. Afterwards enjoy a stroll through our pairing garden, relax by the firepit, or take in our incredible view of the Napa Valley. Operating our small, family business from the original estate winery in Oakville, we stand for exceptional quality and a true Napa Valley wine experience, as it should be. We offer enduring Cabernet Sauvignon with a depth and texture of lasting quality. We make elegant, structured wines, crafted from our four estate vineyards that deliver our signature profile year in and year out – a result of our careful hand in all aspects of the making process, from dirt to bottle. We believe in the opportunity to pause, explore, and discover something new every day, and for us, wine should be no exception. Turnbull. Stay true.

The Team

We are a small, family-owned, multi-generation business with the long view in mind, building on a legacy and creating a genuine, transparent and real Napa Valley experience. It means everything to us to be able to care for and oversee each step along the way, from growing grapes to making wine. It roots us in our future and in sustaining this special place.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

We stand for our place of origin, which enables us to produce a truly great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, dirt to bottle. We tend to the vines and fruit from our curated portfolio of estate vineyards through- out Oakville and in Calistoga. We’re immensely proud to own and sustainably farm these exceptional pieces of land, reflecting some of the best terroir the Napa Valley has to offer. Our sites give us a true fingerprint of place and produce wines that are balanced, complex and exceptional in quality.

Leopoldina Vineyard - 62 acres

Situated high on the crest of the Oakville Bench in the Oakville appellation in the Vaca Range, the expansive view extends throughout the Valley, from Calistoga to the San Francisco Bay. The 62-acre Southwest facing vineyard features scarce, volcanic rock soil. It’s an extreme growing environment and truly unique site that gives us spectacular and complex fruit that lends fine texture and structured tannins to the wines.

Fortuna Vineyard - 59 acres

At the base of the sloping Oakville bench on the Western side of the Oakville appellation facing Southwest sits the Fortuna Ranch. Located on the Silverado Trail not too far from our estate winery, the 59-acre vineyard features ancient red volcanic soils from the adjoining Vaca Range that produce darker fruit notes with an identifiable spice box component.

Amoenus Vineyard - 101 acres

Located in the beautiful and remote Western rolling hills of Calistoga in the Napa Valley toward Mount St. Helena, this just might be our favorite place on Earth to sneak away under an old Oak tree. The 101-acre Amoenus Vineyard features a variety of volcanic soils. The higher elevations and exposures in this part of the Valley are influenced by the ocean air and fog, which cools the fruit at night and provides good acidity with dark cherry notes. Wines from this vineyard have a density of flesh, plush mid palate and a unique minerality.

Turnbull Vineyard - 14 acres

Turnbull’s original historic vineyard site of 14 acres lies at the northern boundary of the Oakville appellation along Highway 29. This flat, gentle Eastern slope surrounds our estate winery and features bale loam clay soils. Wines from this vineyard have a remarkable brightness, with primary red fruit flavors.

We received a perfect 100 point score from the Wine Advocate for our current vintage 2010 Fortuna Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. In total, four of our wines from the vintage scored 96 points or above. These wines are available as a benefit of membership in our Winemaker's Society.
