The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards is all about crafting memorable Virginia wines that you can enjoy in a warm, friendly atmosphere with good company. Ten breathtaking acres surround a beautifully restored hundred and five-year-old stone and wood dairy barn, which has been transformed into a unique tasting room. There are plenty of places on the back deck, patio or the grounds overlooking the pond to sit back and savor a glass of wine!

Winemaker
He has consulted on over a dozen start-up wineries in Virginia, is a graduate of the Lycée Viticole de Beaune in Burgundy and is well known to Virginia wine lovers. Shaps’ wines prove that Virginia can produce a successful product that competes head-to -head with some of the finest wines from the best regions in the world. In addition to wining the prestigious Governor's Cup wine competition, his wines have earned gold medals in several competitions and have been written up in publications such as Saveur, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Washingtonian, The Washington Post and many others.

Awards
and Virginia Wineworks secured 3 golds this year at the 2013 Virginia Governor’s Cup Competition. The most golds awarded to a single winery. The gold medals were awarded to the Michael Shaps 2010 Chardonnay, 2010 Cabernet Franc and 2008 Red Hill Reserve Cabernet Franc. Michael Shaps Wines also received 4 silver medals for the 2007 Michael Shaps Meritage, 2010 Meritage, Merlot and Petit Verdot and won a bronze for the 2011 Viognier.
