After graduating, Kevin headed to Queensland where he managed wineries in the Granite Belt region, producing Shiraz and Chardonnay varietals. Kevin later relocated to Victoria and worked for James Halliday in the Yarra Valley making wines from 1986 - 1988 before he moved to Mornington Peninsula.
Drawing inspiration from tours of the wine regions of Friuli in Italy and Alsace in France, Kevin and Kathleen established three Pinot Gris vineyards under contract which would be their starting point for founding T’Gallant in 1990. This move was bold in the wine world and met with immediate condemnation, in contrast to the established success where T'Gallant became Australia's leader in this cool climate grape variety.
Today, more than 50 wineries on the Mornington Peninsula produce a Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio and 140 hectares are shaded by Pinot Gris vines. Led by Kevin’s talented winemaking expertise, since our inception T’Gallant has proudly crafted wines that are both artisan and pure. While Kevin has recently left T’Gallant to pursue a family winery business with his wife Kathleen, at T’Gallant we continue to make wines in this spirit and vision.
