Nancy and Garry invite you to enjoy one of the largest California Native Gardens in Livermore Valley as you sample our estate wines. The gardens, along with the neighboring horses, allow you to escape the stresses of daily life and enjoy the natural area around you. Nancy Rodrigue is a founder and owner of the company. Nancy is driving force in sustaining the winery’s vision. She now oversees the company’s operations and staff. Her passions are evident all over the property; from the native California garden, to the artistic edge of the rustic chic landscape, and the tasting room décor. She orchestrates events that reflect the tastes of the family such as hiking, the arts, and good food and fine wine. Nancy has a bachelor’s degree from USC and a master’s degree from Kent State University. You will see her in the tasting room, in the garden or with a paintbrush in her hand.
Lindsey A. Roffey - Managing Director of Product Development:
Lindsey Roffey (nee Rodrigue) is the company’s wine expert. Collaborating closely with Garry, she is co-responsible for the quality and taste of the wine. Her expert palate comes in handy at blending time, resulting in some of the winery’s favorite blends. Lindsey is an Advanced Level Sommelier, a Certified Specialist in Wine, and holds an advanced certification from Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), London, UK. She is a wine judge and has been a featured writer for popular wine blogs. Lindsey has a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis and a master’s degree from Chico State University.
Robert S. Roffey - Managing Director & CFO:
Robert Roffey oversees financial operations and is responsible for the company’s operating profit and loss. He has a broad and diverse background in operations and finance, program management, and general management and is often seen working with the winemaker to produce the estate’s wines. Rob has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from California State University, Chico and a master’s degree in business administration from San Francisco State University. Rob can often be found in the tasting room on weekends hamming it up with customers and out and about within the Livermore Valley wine community. He brings a tremendous amount of energy and drive to the company and is very enthusiastic about the future of Rodrigue Molyneaux Winery and the Livermore Valley.
Practices & Techniques
Grapes are harvested late in the growing season to achieve the best possible mixture of sugar content and acidity. Harvesting the grapes is done only by hand in the cool early morning. Each berry cluster has been inspected for grape faults and stems and leaves are removed before crush and fermentation can proceed.
Whole grape berries are brought into the winery and processed on site. They are de-stemmed and crushed prior to alcohol fermentation. Levels are constantly monitored during this time. When fermentation is complete, free-run is captured and remaining must is bladder pressed before being placed into barrels for aging. All wine is produced using stainless steel equipment that is rigorously cleaned and sanitized.
Our wine is aged in French Oak and American Oak barrels and our white wine is aged in stainless steel. Through the aging process, wine is topped, tasted, lees stirred, and tested continuously. The red wine is racked several times and filtered, never fined, for clarity. We age it in a cellar with constant temperature, humidity, and darkness. Once the wine has been aged in barrels, it is bottled and left to age once again to achieve the correct balance of fruit, acidity, and complexity.
Estate Vineyards / AVA
Grapes that are not grown on our estate are purchased within the Livermore Valley AVA (American Viticulture Area). We choose vineyards that are unique, specialized, and tended to, as we would our very own. The Winemaker monitors and frequently visits these vineyards to ensure that he is purchasing only the highest quality grapes.
