Monks Gate Vineyard


Our wines are made from our estate grown fruit. We harvest approximately 52 tons of fruit a year, keeping only enough select barrels to produce approximately 300 cases/year of our MonksGate Pinot noir, Dry Rose of Pinot and Dry Riesling. The remainder of our fruit is sold to other well know high-end winemakers in the region.

Our Bacchanalian dreams started in Napa when we planted 52 Cabernet Sauvignon “hobby” vines up our east hills driveway. The purchase of an old farm in Carlton Oregon’s wine county in 1998 and a lot of blood, sweat and tears later, we announced the release of our first vintage – 189 cases of lovingly hand crafted 2003 Pinot Noir wine.

Practices & Techniques

The vineyard is not irrigated and is farmed sustainably to ensure that it will be environmentally and economically viable for generations to come.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

The vineyard site ranges in elevation from 260 to 440 feet on predominantly south to southwest slopes. The soil type is primarily Willakenzie, a silty clay loam over siltstone.
