Winemaker
Since her career began in 1997, Kate has worked at Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, California and the Barossa and McLaren Vale wine regions, across premium sparkling and still Australian wines. In 2004, Kate moved to the Barossa where she lives on her husband's family vineyard with their three children Will, Archie and Sophie.
Kate has been making Ingoldby wines since 2011 and is passionate about delivering the high quality wines Ingoldby drinkers have grown to love and appreciate.
"At Ingoldby we take pride in selecting small parcels of fruit for our wines each vintage that display the truly unique characters that the McLaren Vale region has to offer," says Kate. "McLaren Vale is not dissimilar to the Mornington Peninsula where I grew up - I loves the coastal influence on these wines. The region offers distinct characters, captured in every one of the wines we make."
Estate Vineyards / AVA
McLaren Vale's proximity to the ocean means the region very rarely experiences drought and frost. While there is a wide variety of soil types in McLaren Vale, the common trait is that all are free draining, necessitating irrigation (or in some cases, intentional dry farming). This allows for and enables accurate irrigation control and manipulation to achieve desired fruit production. McLaren Vale is known for producing big wines with lots of flavour, colour, and structure – and Ingoldby wines are no exception, expressing the beautiful and varied terroir.
