Hidden Creek Winery

About

Our knowledgeable cellar door staff will guide you through a tasting of Hidden Creek wines ranging from elegant whites, serious reds and fortifieds and the ever-popular and refreshing pink moscato. Try our current Strange Bird wines- tempranillo, petit verdot and cabernet franc. The cellar door features silky-oak panelling and ornate leadlights originating from the old Ipswich Baptist Church. During winter our blazing fireplace will keep you warm. The Hidden Creek Winery Café offers casual dining on the enclosed terrace or alfresco (under the trees) overlooking the lake and vineyard. Some new additions have been made to the menu with some of the old favorites retained.

Winemaker

The winemaker and part owner is Jim Barnes, professionally qualified at Charles Sturt University, and a renowned award-winning winemaker.

The Team

A part owner is Andrew Corrigan MW, a well known wine commentator and educator who is one of Australia’s few Masters of Wine. His international wine expertise brings great knowledge of Mediterranean and European wine styles to Hidden Creek. Other members of the ownership consortium are Brisbane construction industry businessmen Paul Boddington, Nick Herron, David Wilson, Robin Fardoulys and Scott Hutchinson.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

This climate, together with the arid granite rocky soils, draws similar comparisons to high regions close to the Mediterranean. Areas such as north-eastern Spain, the inland south-west of France around Cahors and Gaillac, and the upper Rhone Valley in France, bear a great resemblance to Granite Belt terrain. These regions have a tradition of delicious characterful wines that are wonderful accompaniments to food. At Hidden Creek we have adopted the grape varieties and inspiration of these regions.
