Winemaker
Chief Winemaker
Paul Lapsley is our 19th Chief Winemaker and, like all his predecessors, his mission is to fulfil Thomas Hardy’s vision of creating ‘wines that would be prized in all markets around the world.
His dedication and passion for winemaking ensures that all of our wines continue to push the boundaries of viticulture whilst maintaining the high quality of wines for which Hardys is famous. Paul's incredible palate brings a distinct quality and character to all his wines.
Tom Newton
Chief White Winemaker
Tom joined our winemaking family in 1982 and his passion and dedication for white wine making led to him becoming responsible for all of our white wines in 1988.
Since then Tom has had the chance to indulge his passion for Australian Chardonnay and his vast experience with the grape led him to create his pinnacle Chardonnay, the Eileen Hardy.
Winemaking Legacy:
Our founder Thomas Hardy was our first Chief Winemaker until 1890, when he handed responsibility to his nephew Dr. Fred Stoward. Ever since it has been our Chief Winemaker's responsibility to continue Thomas’ vision of creating ‘wines that will be prized in the markets of the world’.
Over the past 160 years we have had 19 different Chief Winemakers pass through our Tintara winery. All of whom have played a vital role in the success of both Hardys and the Australian wine industry.
History
That vision would become reality. That man would become a legend. His name was Thomas Hardy.
Five generations later, the Hardy family continues to nurture that vision, and share with the world an array of award-winning wines that proudly carry the Hardy name.
