Sarah started with Daveste in the summer of 2013 A North Carolina native from Boonville, NC.
She attended Surry Community college for two years. Worked at RagApple Lassie for 5 -1/2 years under Linda King.

Then moved to Sanders Ridge Vineyards as there winemaker where wines under her devepment won numerous local and International awards, including the coveted NC Muscadine Cup. and also won a Double Gold and Best in show for white vinifera with 2009 Estate Muscat Canelli at the NC State Fair competition.

History

Owners Dave and Ester DeFehr in 2003 envisioned planting a vineyard and bringing the first winery to Iredell County. After locating an ideal 52-acre pastoral setting the property was purchased in 2004. The land was then manicured to enhance its natural features and four acres of vines were planted in 2005. A modern, three-level “barn” was constructed to include a small winery. we took our first harvest in 2006 and produced 500 cases of wine. We doubled production to 1000 cases with the 2007 harvest. On September 3 we joyfully opened the doors of our rustic timber frame-style tasting room and art gallery to the public!

Practices & Techniques

Well once again it is the time of year to cut back the vineyard and get ready for spring over the next few weeks we will be out removing canes adding new cordons and getting the vineyard ready for another year of growth to make more fine Daveste wines.
