About

With pale frescoed walls, palette, and furniture derived from the Gustavian style, Circa 1810 is inspired after The Great Room in Bates Mansion at Brook Farm Vineyards. You’ll drink in the luxury environs before you take a single sip of wine from the estate’s collection. The 48 square foot antique mirror adds an air of grandeur to this beautifully appointed tasting room in downtown Ludlow, Vermont at the base of the Okemo Ski Mountain. History

Doug and Jennifer McBride became the owners of Brook Farm in 2008. Doug, a New York attorney, and Jennifer, founder and owner of a couture textile design business, celebrated their new ownership of the Vermont showplace by holding their wedding at Brook Farm. The couple had undertaken a comprehensive search for a suitable property and chose Brook Farm because they were entranced both by its aesthetics and its potential. Now the McBrides are realizing their vision for Brook Farm as a bucolic paradise that welcomes visitors from far and wide.

Practices & Techniques

Brook Farm Vineyards winemaking philosophy is based on consistency and elegance. Along with taking great care of the grape vines and a very hands on farming approach, we are able to uniformly mature grapes to perfect ripeness for each bottle of wine we create. In the cellar, the fruit is handled as gently as possible. In the glass, the wines reveal the winemakers focus on texture, structure and vinifera. Brook Farm Vineyard’s rocky slopes and sandy loam soil yield grapes that are small packed with an intense color and flavor. In 2015 Brook Farm Vineyards released its first vintages seven different wines. The Brook Farm wines are meant to showcase the varietal and the vineyard in which they are grown.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

Perched at an elevation of 1,240 feet, Brook Farm Vineyards reflects the best of Vermont’s mountainous landscape. The five acre vineyard is tucked into the Okemo valley overlooking the mountains. Vermont is a growing viticulture area specializing in cold hardy grape varietals. Vermont’s clean air and cool breezes sweep through the vineyard on late summer afternoons, slowing the ripening and encouraging flavor and character development in the grapes.

Our vineyard lies in the heart of Okemo Mountain where fields and streams abound. The rows of our vines undulate over the rolling hills they are planted on, their roots exploring the diverse silt and loam soils beneath them. Currently, our estate features six wine grape varieties Marquette, Foch, Edelweiss, St. Croix, and Petite Pearl. The diversity of our grape varietals reflects the dynamic nature of our site.
