Our goal is to make the most beautiful, artistic expression of small lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay while pushing the boundaries of our capabilities each and every vintage. Within the label designs you will find images honoring my family, birthplace, our region and elements from some of my favorite artists. Born in Portland, Oregon and growing up in the Willamette Valley I had the opportunity to meet some of Oregon's pioneering winemakers. My mom Gabriele is from Germany (she may be found managing the Keeler Estate tasting room) and my great grandfather Johannes was a wine merchant who traveled often throughout Europe sourcing fine wines. My father Craig has been involved in international business his entire career, he is capable of building just about anything and has a passion for his biodynamic vineyard. He recently constructed a beautiful new winery on our family estate in Amity, Oregon where I make my wines.

I graduated from Oregon State University with two Bachelor of arts degrees; International Business, International Studies, a minor in Spanish, While studying art and architecture in Barcelona I fell in love with the works of Dali, El Greco, Velazquez, Picasso and Remidos Varo. In Oaxaca I studied Zapotec and Mayan art and was enchanted by open markets, mole and mezcal.

Wine became a passion of mine after university when I began producing small lots of pinot noir with the help of my friends Felix Madrid from Carlo & Julian winery and David Lloyd Jones from Bryn Mawr vineyard. I continued my wine education through UC Davis correspondence winemaking classes, passed my first sommelier exam, worked many harvests and in the cellars of world class wineries. I have more than ten years of experience as the North American Sales Manager for Tonnellerie Allary thanks to a reference from Rick Deferrari proprietor of Oregon Barrel Works right here in McMinnville, Oregon. This opportunity allowed me to taste in hundreds of cellars, acquire expert knowledge of French oak barrels, oak fermentations, forests, seasoning and toasting techniques. My preferences are for elegance and restraint in oak. With a deft touch I utilize a higher percentage of new french oak barrels and fermentors with my wines. The results are a seamless integration of extra tight grain oak with fine compact tannins preserving the fresh aspect of my wines and respecting vineyard nuance, one of the great signatures of Authentique.

Practices & Techniques

Diligently managed native, spontaneous and whole cluster fermentations in oak puncheons, demi muids, uprights, stainless tanks and concrete are common in my wines.

Estate Vineyards / AVA

Authentique captures the essence of my family's Demeter Biodynamic and Stellar Organic certified vineyard, Keeler Estate, which is planted on a southwest sloping hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. To the west and southwest of middle earth lies Oregon's coastal mountain range where fresh pacific ocean winds blow through the Van Duzer Corridor cooling our vines that are nestled on a pristine hillside near the small town of Amity.

The soils are an ancient ocean bed exposed by glacial lake outbursts from the Missoula floods. Our panoramic vineyard is surrounded by fauna shade, oak groves, fir trees, outcroppings of sandstone boulders embedded with seashells, running streams, waterfalls, ponds and an abundance of wildlife. You will find a thriving ecosystem here. These rare and unique elements ​contribute to the foundation and energy of my Keeler Estate vineyard designate wines.

Two exciting and delicious new wines have just been released, 2015 "LEISURE" Keeler Estate biodynamic skin contact pinot gris and "THE CORRIDOR" 2014 pinot noir! My wines are pure, show the true character of each site and not manipulated by an impactful winemaking style.
