Argyle cultivates four vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard, Lone Star Vineyard and Spirit Hill Vineyard. The 120 acre Knudsen Vineyard was initially planted between 1972 & 1974. The high elevation blocks of this historic point Dundee Hills site are key segments in Argyle's shining wines. Knudsen gives Argyle a mix of old vine pieces and new high thickness squares planted with "Old World" Dijon clones.
Just south of Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills sits Stoller Vineyard. Initially planted in 1995, Stoller, in the same way as Knudsen, is planted utilizing state of the craftsmanship viticultural procedures. Stoller Vineyard has transformed some of Oregon's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
In 1996 Argyle obtained a staggering 160 acre vineyard site in the east inclines of Eola Hills, known as Lone Star Vineyard. Spotted 15 miles south of Argyle's winery in Dundee, this warm site is planted principally to Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. This vineyard can possibly be one of Oregon's best Pinot Noir vineyards.
Practices & Techniques
Estate Vineyards / AVA
Dundee Hills AVA, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Argyle's primary vineyard source since 1987 is the 120 acre Knudsen Vineyards, located in the heart of the red hills of Dundee, Oregon. Half the vineyard was planted in the early 1970s. These "historic" vines produce distinctive wines with ripe fruit flavors and earthy, spicy old vine character. The other, "younger" half of the vineyard features state-of-the-art viticulture: Old World clones planted in high density blocks on warm sites. Pinot fruit from these blocks offers up unique aromas of black cherry leading into ripe raspberry concentrate.
Argyle's finest sparkling wine fruit is grown in Knudsen's high-elevation blocks (above 700 feet) where ripening occurs at the end of the growing season.

Do great views ensure great wines? At Lone Star Vineyard the vines are treated to a sweeping view of the Cascades, from Mt. Rainier in the north to the Three Sisters to the south. While the view is stunning, this low elevation, warm site is a magnet for the two forces crucial for ripening grapes: light and heat. As the first light of day peaks over the Cascade range, Lone Star Vineyard begins absorbing the full power of the sun. Located 15 miles south of Dundee in the Eola Hills, this 116 acre site is oriented to maximize the sun's light and heat.
Lone Star is the vineyard that produces some of Argyle's most coveted and highly-rated wines - Nuthouse Pinot Noir and Nuthouse Chardonnay.
