Australia is a country with numerous wine regions that are well-known for producing award-winning wines. Capel Vale winery located in Western Australia wine region is a family owned winery. It was established in 1974 by medical practitioner Dr. Peter Pratten and his wife Elizabeth; it now boasts of over 40 years’ experience producing superior Western Australian wines for both national and international distribution. Its first vineyard was planted on the banks of Capel River and blossomed profoundly, it accounted for much for the vineyards winery’s intake until the mid-1980s. Since then the winery has succeeded in establishing four wineries located in Geographe, Pemberton, Margaret River and Mount Baker. Capel Vale is well-known for four tiers of wine, including its Regional Series, Debut (Varietals), Black Label Margaret River Chardonnay and its Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignon ranks among the top 10 wines from the region and has won several awards including the 2012 vintage award from Decanter World Wine and the 2007 vintage was award from the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

 

 

Although its primary focus is showcasing its wine, Capel Vale also controls other establishments including its highly rated Capel Vale Match restaurant. The restaurant aims to match its meal with its premium wines, giving its customers the best of both worlds. Their menu offers the best of locally sourced Western Australian produce such as Shark Bay prawns, Linley Valley pork, and Dardanup Sirloin. They also pride themselves in preparing tasty season meals including their tomato relish, mixed olives and apple balsamic reduction. The restaurant is elegantly decorated, with light background music and breathtaking views of the vineyard. Capel Vale Restaurant is open from 10 am to 4 pm every day, and offers morning and afternoon tea, lunches and tapas dishes. The restaurant opened in 2002 and had since received many awards including the best Restaurant in the South West award, as well as Best Restaurant in a Winery, and Best Maitre (award).

 

Capel Vale is also known for its cellar door and tasting area, which offers one of the largest remaining natural tuart forest still standing in the world. The Ludlow Tuart Forest, located in the south side of Capel Vale winery, is made up of approximately 2,280 hectares of open forest and is home to many types of native flora and fauna. Located at about 2.5 hours south of Perth, Capel Vale is nearby the coastal townships of Bunbury, Busselton, and Margaret. Capel Vale is a highly decorated establishment with many international awards; James Halliday gave the winery a 5-star rating in his 2014 wine companion, and granted its Cabernet Sauvignon a score of 92, he also rated it among the top 3.8% wineries in Australia. Capel Vale's dedication to crafting elegant and superior wines continues to set them apart in the restaurant and wine world.
