Cellar Worker

About

Working as part of our rock star winery team, under the guidance and supervision of the Production Manager, the Cellar Worker assists with duties relating to the winemaking process, operates machinery and other equipment, carries out work orders, moves stock, performs general winery housekeeping duties, and carries out all orders effectively, efficiently and with a jovial attitude. Job Duties: • Assists cellar team with daily production goals. • Handles grape/juice deliveries. • Operates presses and filters • Drives Forklift, including moving and stacking wine barrels. • Cleans barrels. • Racks and pumps juice and wine; moves hoses and equipment. • Performs chemical additions to juice and wine. • Performs direct inoculation of yeast to juice. • Sets both manual and automatic tank temperature controls. • Performs routine barrel work: SO2 adds, topping, stirring, racking, filling and checking inventory. • Collects wine/juice samples and general support for the laboratory. • Exposure to complex cellar equipment: Cross flow • Responsible for sanitation in all areas of cellar operation. • Loading and unloading equipment from trucks and trailers. • Pressure washing winery floors and tank exteriors. • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to timely and accurate reporting of all work-related injuries and illnesses to the Department Supervisor, promoting safety awareness to co-workers, advising the Supervisor of any unsafe acts, conditions or behaviors and wearing required personal protective equipment. Qualifications: • High School diploma or G.E.D. • Ability to work overtime and extended hours. • Minimum 2 years Winery cellar experience required. • Forklift certification and ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack. • Knowledge or ability to learn safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals. • Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures. • Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures. • Must understand and complete work orders. • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred. • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow directions. • Takes initiative. • Good reading, writing and basic math is required. • Strong and proven work ethic. • Good communication and listening skills. • Commitment to excellence and high standards. • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm. • Detail oriented, self-motivated. • Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual and have good work ethic
