Cellar Assistant (Caviste)
Job Description: Cellar Assistant, Full Time – Dayton, OR Duties and Responsibilities: - Conduct all required cellar procedures under the direction of the Assistant winemaker and Cellar Master. - Maintain accurate records of work performed. - Maintain highest standards of cellar cleanliness and sanitation - Assist in oversight and management of cellar interns and temporary staff. - During harvest, assist in all winery responsibilities including: receiving fruit, additions to fermentation vessels, collecting samples, draining, red and white pressing, barreling down, transporting barrels and grapes. - Assist with bottling operations including labeling, packaging, and quality control. Qualifications and Requirements: - Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies - Follow directions from Cellar master under minimal supervision - High level of accuracy and effective time management skills. - Basic knowledge of winemaking processes - Ability to work with pumps, gases, and other winery/cellar equipment - Forklift experience preferred but not necessary - Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. - Candidates must be able to lift 60 lbs. and work for extended hours, including weekends (harvest, bottling, blending, etc…). - Key among the requirements will be an exceptional positive attitude, work ethic and great attention to detail. - Punctual, meticulous and reliable - Groomed clean appearance - Be able to work with a team, as well as individually - Valid driver’s license required - Able to stand for long periods of time - Work indoors and outdoors in all types of Oregon weather such as rain, sleet, heat, and wind - Can do attitude - Previous cellar experience preferred. - Ability to climb ladders and stairs frequently Compensation: - Full time hourly position that includes full benefits (After 30 days), IRA retirement program (after 1 year). Salary is competitive and will be based on level of experience.
