Winemaker
Joe, the winemaker, spent time as a chemist while pursuing other interests before moving to the West Coast. Leveraging his experience in science and background in wine, Joe quickly picked up the art of wine making. He has held positions in wine making at Rutz Cellars, BR Cohn, and Flowers Winery.
History
Founded in 2005, TAJ Cellars is the collaboration of creative minds with over 17 years of experience in the wine industry.
Joe Buckel, Alex Wilkens, and Ty Albers found a common interest in establishing a winery focused on bringing exceptional wines into the homes of our friends and families. By integrating a variety of grassroots resources, TAJ Cellars has created an experience we know you will find enjoyable.

The Team
Alex, an expert in wine making operations, has an unparalleled passion for wine. With the mind of a Dutch Engineer, Alex brings a depth of experience and a jovial outlook to our team. A New York native, Alex headed West finding a home in Sonoma County.
Ty has held various positions in Sales and Marketing in the software industry, most recently with LexisNexis. As a longtime resident of San Francisco and member of The Recording Academy, he continues to pursue progressive opportunities, while making music in a home studio, Pontiff Productions.
Months after the formation of TAJ, the boys were celebrating at the rehearsal dinner on the weekend of Joe's wedding. While lightly discussing the future of TAJ, all three focused on a painting in the corner. A gift to Joe from his brother, the painting "Mendoza" clearly became the centerpiece of our brand.
We are honored to feature the artwork of David Pizzimenti, the creator of "Mendoza" which is featured on our labels.
