About
Arizona's wine industry encapsulates creativity and innovation. Vigneron John Mcloughlin doesn't just own a winery. In Willcox, Arizona the Dragoon Mountain Vineyard is carefully attended to by John himself. A stark difference between hot desert days and cool valley nights shape one of the world's most novel growing regions in SE Arizona at 4300 feet. With more than three decades experience from soil to the bottle, John Mcloughlin's rebel wine-making style has started a group of wines extending from the approachable to the esoteric. All are evocative of Arizona's unique terroir and oblige the wine drinking delight of connoisseur and novice. All grapes are sourced only from our family's vineyards in Willcox, Arizona. I wholeheartedly champion Arizona wines and believe there are many wonderful mysteries yet to be uncovered.

History
Practices & Techniques
We continue this exchange of learning and ideas with the 2015 harvest as we welcome wine makers from Argentina, Spain and CSU Fresno. Interns2015
In the vineyard we are growing many exclusive ENTAV-INRA clones. We are also growing the UC Davis Zinfandel Heritage Clones. These are distinct clones and at third leaf, the fruit coming forward is robust and gorgeous.
Some of our other unique varietals that are the first to be grown in Arizona include Marselan, Arinarnoa, Pinotage, Montepulciano, Graciano, Albarino, Charbono, Aglianico, Malbec, Sangiovese and the 5 port varieties. There are many not mentioned and we are currently seeking out more intriguing and rare varietals to plant in this wondrous and unique region.
Estate Vineyards / AVA
Atmosphere and soil studies prove the region to be like Rivera Del Duero, Spain, Southeastern Australia, Southern France and is almost indistinguishable to Paso Robles, California. My family's vineyard in the foothills of Willcox rests in a most fitting area and in December 2013, our appeal for a unique AVA was approved and is currently in the rule-making process. We now hold about 400-acres and are growing 100 mixtures/clones. My vineyard is in itself a test to see what will grow and what will make world class wine.
Awards
In November our vigneron, John McLoughlin received the Gold Growers Cup, the highest distinction for an Arizona winemaker, at the Festival at The Farm.
