For Bianchi visitors, the sweeping vineyard, coastal mountain views, and a serene lake coupled with inspired wines offer a fulfilling wine country experience. The welcoming tasting room is an architectural feast for the senses. It blends modern elements-glass, contemporary lighting, and rectilinear characteristics- altogether with earthen materials such as wood, stone and metal. A fireplace warms the tasting room in the winter, and cool breezes off the lake refresh the room in the summer. Whether enjoying our wines inside or outside, guests enjoy our relaxed, un-hurried nature. It's how wine tasting should be!

Originally from Pleasanton, California, Tom credits his early affinity for winemaking to playing in abandoned wineries when he was a child and later helping local home winemakers with their Zinfandel harvests. It would be many years later that Tom would be able to make his passion for winemaking his career.
Tom's remarkable educational background spans more than 10 years and includes Bachelors degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Chico State University, a Master's degree in Biology (Plant Taxonomy) from Kansas State University, and further graduate studies in Botany at Ohio State University. His adoration for plants and wine eventually led him to the graduate program at U.C. Davis where he studied winemaking/Enology, concentrating his studies on the differences in aroma compounds among 20 clones of Pinot Noir.
Tom began his professional winemaking career at Navarro Vineyards in 1985, where he was responsible for winemaking and enjoyed producing fine Alsatian and Bordelaise-style wines. In 1992, he joined Concannon Vineyard, taking on winemaking and managerial duties. While at Concannon, Tom helped the winery earn hundreds of accolades, including Wine and Spirits Magazine Winery of the Year in 1995 and 1997. Through his 25 years of winemaking, Tom himself has earned several prestigious accolades including a Dan Berger Winemaker of the Year, 1997 and Jerry Mead's Winemaker of the Year in 1996.
No stranger to Paso Robles fruit, Tom appreciates the opportunity to work with the Winery's Estate Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Utilizing Bianchi's modern winery facility featuring the latest equipment and a high quality barrel program, Tom feels he can reach Bianchi's goal to make the highest quality wines. Tom experiments with different vineyards, harvest times, yeast strains, fermentation and aging regimes, as well as spicy barrel types to produce the excellent, complex and layered wines for which he strives. "The finished wine is an amalgam, a synergy of layers and flavors, a blended whole which is more than the sum of its parts." Tom states, "You can't entirely predict what the wine will be like once until it's blended, that keeps winemaking interesting."
Utilizing the most advanced farming and production technologies, the Bianchi family quickly grew to become an industry leader, producing award winning wines.
In pursuit of his lifelong ambition of producing ultra-premium wines, Glenn set his sights on finding a new vineyard and winery location. After searching throughout California for the finest terroir to meet his requirements, he settled on Paso Robles. Glenn was impressed with the region's outstanding reputation for quality wines and its natural beauty.
In January of 2000, Bianchi purchased 40 acres of vineyards on the East side of Paso Robles and built a showcase winery and spectacular hospitality center on the property.
Situated on a gentle rise, the new Bianchi Winery has a commanding view looking west over undulating vineyards dotted with ancient oaks. The state of the art stainless steel fermentation tanks provide the winemaker the latest computerized monitoring system and the option to make select, limited production wines. Similarly, the new barrel room for the French and American oak has the capacity to allow blending and aging of small lots.
The Bianchi Tasting Room is the fulfillment of Glenn Bianchi's dream to provide a great sensory experience for visitors to the property.
Nestled in the estate vineyards, the facility rises above a waterfall fed lake that gently laps the stone terraces. The soaring glass walls take advantage of the peaceful surroundings from every angle.
Its adjacent vineyards support the belief that it is vital to grow only those varieties of grapes which are best suited to the particular aspect of the land: such as soil, exposure and climate. That is why the Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah and Merlot are planted in the winery's sloping vineyards. These varietals make up our sought after Heritage Selection.
Our Signature Selection wines are made from grapes purchased from the highly recognized vineyards adjoining the Bianchi estate and from other premium growers in and around Paso Robles and the Central Coast. Our long and close relationship with the best growers assures us access to each harvest's top quality grapes. Our Signature selection comprise of Edna Valley Chardonnay, Paso Robles Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. Come and sample some of our limited released wines, such as Sangiovese, and Italian varietal grown here in Paso Robles called Refosco.
It is here at our new home in Paso Robles that the Bianchi renaissance is taking place as we expand into the super and ultra premium categories with estate grown and hand crafted wines.
Estate Vineyards / AVA
The Bianchi estate vineyard is comprised of four different and distinct ranches. The 13 acre Lakeside Ranch has clay-loam soils, ideal for the ranch's Cabernet Sauvignon, while the 19 acre Zen Ranch is comprised mainly of sandy loam where the Zinfandel thrives. The Creekside Ranch and Sunrise Ranch are host to Syrah and Merlot respectively. The estate fruit is allowed to develop slowly in indirect sunlight in order to achieve the desired balance of sugar and acidity.
Glenn Bianchi and winemaker Tom Lane also source grapes from select Central Coast vineyards: Petite Sirah from the Peck Ranch in Paso Robles, Pinot Noir from York Mountain, Chardonnay from Edna Valley and Cabernet Franc from Jim Smoot Vineyards. The grapes from these premier Central Coast vineyards are the foundation for producing the Bianchi Signature Collection of wines.
