Temecula Wineries

When it comes to wine tasting, there are some who love to immerse themselves in a particular region that they visit, while others prefer day trips and in out of wine country. One place that is perfect for both is in Temecula, which is close enough to San Diego and Palm Springs to make it a perfect day trip, yet far enough out that wine connoisseurs will feel as though they are far from the urban sprawl of the city. There are certainly plenty of wineries in Temecula that are just waiting to welcome you in and let you sample the many varietals that are grown in the region.

What makes this region so unique is the wide variety of wineries that are available for you to visit. There are names that you will instantly recognize, but there are also smaller, family-owned wineries that are like little hidden gems nestled in the Temecula Valley. Making sure that you are able to visit the Temecula wine tasting rooms that you want to get to can be a daunting task, which is why it might be a good idea to look into organized wine tours. That said, you can also go the self-guided route, which means perhaps dividing the Temecula wineries into smaller groups to make your trip easier to manage.

There are a few different trails that the Temecula wineries are located along, which makes splitting up your visits a little easier. They are all located pretty close together, so getting from one to the other is never a particularly long drive. That said, it’s always a good idea to have a designated driver come along for the ride. The Calle Contento Wine Trail is one that you will love if you are looking to avoid the crowds, while the De Portola Wine Trail delivers a more rural setting for those looking to get a more country feel. The Rancho California Wine Trail features smaller wineries in the west, while the east portion is home to the larger, better known spots.

You don’t necessarily have to visit all of the wineries in Temecula to get a real taste of what the region delivers. There are numerous dining opportunities, some of the best of which can be found in Old Town Temecula. Visiting this part of Southern California is like taking a trip back in time to the Old West, and is a great place to go shopping and perhaps do a little wine tasting when you have dinner in one of the unique restaurants that are located there.

Most of the wineries in Temecula are open throughout the week, which means you don’t have to wait for the weekend to come in order to get away from it all.  This is a great spot to go and unwind for a few hours, and its proximity to major cities means that getting your hands on the perfect glass of wine is never a difficult task. If you love wine and beautiful scenery, Temecula Valley is a region that you really need to visit.
