 Hawaii Wineries

Hawaii is by far one of the most beautiful places on earth. It has been the backdrop of many a movie and its tropical climate is perfect for vacationing. However, what many people may not realize is that the state/islands are also home to some incredible tasting wine. If you are planning a trip to this breathtaking group of islands, then consider visiting one or a few of the Hawaiian wineries available.

Of all the islands, Maui produces the highest amount of wine. Hawaiian vineyards aren’t like anything you may be used to on the mainland. For starters, the soil used for cultivation often has trace elements of volcanic ash, and this in turn creates a distinct Hawaiian flavor.

It wasn’t until 2001, when legislation made it possible for Hawaiian wineries to sell directly to buyers in the states. Previously, Hawaiian Vineyards were forced to use a distributor to sell their products.

Most of the wine produced by Hawaiian winers, is fruit based with hints of pineapple. The primary grape used in wineries in Hawaii, is the Symphony grape. The Symphony grape produces a drier, fruity white wine. Table wines and drier white wines are the most popular wines produced in Hawaiian wineries.

Wineries in Hawaii have their own unique flavor, atmosphere, and taste. The rich culture of the islands is infused into every glass of wine, and you can almost taste the fresh ocean air in every sip.
