Dry Creek Wine Tasting

The state of California is the undisputed champion when it comes to wine production in the United States. The soil and climate found in many parts of the state make it the idea place to grow grapes that are perfect for making wine. One look at the map of California wine country shows that you have some real decisions to make when it comes time to start visiting wineries and sampling the delicious varietals that they have to offer. Sonoma County is where you will find many of the top regions, with Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley high on the list. Another great spot is Dry Creek valley, which is the region we will be discussing here.

Getting access to the Dry Creek wine tasting spots is pretty easy, as Highway 101 basically cuts right through this region, as well as the other two that we mentioned earlier. The Dry Creek wineries all sit to the west of the highway, and with over 50 different, totally unique spots to visit, you are looking at a wine trail that requires more than a single visit in order to take it all in. It is for this reason that many wine lovers choose to time their visit with one of the many Dry Creek wine tasting events that take place throughout the year.

Much of the action in the Dry Creek Valley is centered on the town of Healdsburg, which basically sits right in the spot where Dry Creek Valley, Anderson Valley, and Russian River Valley come together. It is the location where most people who come to Sonoma County for the wine choose to set up camp. It also helps that the town itself is home to some fabulous tasting rooms, which can help you sample many of the wines from the surrounding wineries that you might not get a chance to visit.

One of the great benefit of Dry Creek wine tasting is that the events that take place in the region are put together to appeal to all tastes. Wine pretty much always serves as the centerpiece for these events, but it’s the pairings that make them totally unique. There is music, food, and a little sprinkling of history paired with the wines of the region, giving visitors to the region the opportunity to experience something a little different every single time.

Visitors have the opportunity to purchase a Dry Creek Valley Passport that opens up all kinds of theme parties over the course of a single weekend. The wineries in the region bring their products to the visitor during these events, with many of the wines on offer being varietals that are not always made available. It is white grapes, and Sauvignon Blanc in particular, that is the jewel in the crown of this part of Sonoma County, but when you embark on a Dry Creek wine tasting experience, you will quickly discover that there is something there to suit every single palate.
